About
Laboratorio Città di Ferrara Engineering srl was established in 2005 from the merger of the architectural design studio of Arch. Daniele Spoletini and the engineering firm of Eng. Giovanni Bertoli. The founding objective of this union is to offer an integrated architecture and engineering service that, through collaboration among professionals with diverse specializations, aspires to produce what could be defined as authentic intellectual craftsmanship.
The Laboratory’s working method is distinguished by continuous dialogue between ideas and spatial visions, subject to constant verification and refinement during the design phase. This approach goes beyond the mere “production” of the building object—however normatively correct, technologically advanced, and functionally adequate—to engage in a broader pursuit: finding the functionality of each work within the network of references, relationships, and reciprocities that characterize the territory of architecture, pursuing qualitative excellence that encompasses the entire context of reference.
On an ideal level, the structure and cultural objectives of the Laboratory recall the model of the ancient artisan workshop, tied to the slow and methodical construction of the architect’s craft. On an operational level, the internal organization ensures that this work of research and experimentation translates into concrete results, in timeframes and methods fully compatible with the demands of contemporary reality.
In this spirit of continuous evolution, the Laboratory has integrated BIM (Building Information Modeling) into its design process, adopting it as a central working tool. BIM does not represent a mere technical innovation, but a natural extension of the Laboratory’s philosophy: a means through which the experience gained over years of activity finds new possibilities for expression, coordination, and control. The management of integrated and multidisciplinary digital models allows for further refinement of the design process quality, strengthening the synergy between creative thinking and technical rigor that constitutes the Laboratory’s distinctive trait.
